EFM listed among the best fund managers in the global impact investment sector for the fifth year in a row

Portland, Ore., February 14, 2017 — EFM (Ecotrust Forest Management) has been selected for ImpactAssets 2016 impact investing showcase, the ImpactAssets 50 (IA 50), a free online resource for investors and financial advisors. The sixth annual list provides a diversified overview of fund managers representing private debt and equity investments that deliver social and environmental impact as well as financial returns. This year will mark the fifth year in a row that EFM has been included in the IA 50.

“The IA 50 was designed to help convert interest into action by showcasing funds with expert management and solid track records,” said Matthew Weatherly White, Managing Director, The CAPROCK Group. “Investors who have been watching from the sidelines and waiting for the field to mature will find no shortage of opportunities.”

“EFM is honored to be named among the 50 best impact investment fund managers in the world for the fifth year in a row,” says Bettina von Hagen, CEO of EFM. “With a twelve year track record of investing in the forestry sector, we are excited by the expanding opportunities to make investments that assist communities in the protection of their drinking water, enable tribal land repatriation, create jobs that support rural economies, and address climate change.”

EFM was formed in 2004 as a for-profit subsidiary of Ecotrust to demonstrate an alternate approach to forest management in the Pacific Northwest, one that delivers timber, wildlife habitat, clean water, carbon sequestration, and local jobs. Specializing in the acquisition and management of forestland properties with unique social and environmental value, EFM currently manages more than 35,000 acres of forestland in the western United States.

The IA 50 selection committee is chaired by ImpactAssets’ Chief Impact Strategist, Jed Emerson, and includes experts from The CAPROCK Group, Blue Haven, Toniic, UBS, and other leading impact investors.
