Ecotrust Forest Management, Inc. (EFMI) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ecotrust, a non-profit organization based in Portland, Oregon. EFMI was established in 2004 and is dedicated to the principles of ecological forest management that emphasize diverse, uneven-age forests with clean water and air, and bountiful wildlife habitat. Our forest management strategies include selling conservation easements, carbon sequestration offset credits, and recreations leases, as well as exploring potential new markets such as biofuels, water quality and species banks. Our management — which includes both selective harvesting strategies and strategies to improve ecosystem services — emphasizes the long-term value and health of the land over short-term net profits.

As a result of our management practices, we expect to reduce epidemic levels of insects, disease and fire, as well as material limitations on business operations due to environmental regulation. Through demonstrating the advantages and potential for success inherent in a management structure that keeps environmental stewardship, community enrichment and profit in mind, we hope to act as a catalyst for the improvement of forest management practices throughout the region.
